This work takes inspiration from Julian Fałat’s 1907 painting Snow, an image deeply rooted in the Polish collective imagination. Working from a photographic reproduction, Lewi created two groups of drawings: eight made while observing the image, and eight drawn from memory alone. Through this process, drawing becomes an act of both remembering and relearning an iconic vision of the Polish winter—an image of a landscape that, over a century later, has largely faded from reality.
